PCS tips and trick’s part 2 - Moving companies
If you can count on your hands more bad PCS experiences than good, this post is for you. Whether your movers were a no show, your household goods arrived and your items were damaged or missing, or your items couldn’t be delivered to you within a timely manner. It can get real messy real fast.
That is why it is crucial to have a moving company that you can trust. Because you can request a specific moving company when you put in your request for a military move. So when and if you ever come across a company that does a fantastic job, make a note of them to request them moving forward and to share with others!

We had DMS with our most recent move from Hunter Army Airfield, GA to Virginia. They were professional and kind and took great care to ensure our HHG were properly packed.
During our move we also had a third party come out and disassemble/reassemble our Peloton tread and Serta adjusted bed frame. This was a service we did not know was included with our military move until this move when our move coordinator just automatically scheduled it for us after our move survey was completed. So if you need this service and it isn’t offered, bring it to your coordinators attention. It is a FREE service to you with your move.
Delivery
Upon receiving our HHG and unpacking we had minimal damage to our items. We had a bookshelf get damaged, but it was a cheap $30 bookshelf from Amazon so we just tossed it and moved on. We also had damage to one of our couches, but my husband was able to easily fix it. So this was our first move without having to do a single claim. But if we wanted too, we could have claimed the bookshelf, just wasn’t worth the time and effort for $30 in our opinion.
So if you’re looking for a good moving company to request, I would start with American Moving and Freight. If the company you request isn’t available you’ll just be placed with another one. But it doesn’t hurt to make the request!
