Pre-move purging tips

Oh, Georgia. How I will miss you. But it is time to pick up again and move on. Next stop, VIRGINIA.

Garage sales seem to be a thing of the past with all the online options for reselling and purging your household items. So, here's a few of my favorite ways to purge and unload items just sitting around my house, while making a little money:

Facebook marketplace

Facebook marketplace is my number one for purging! My favorite part of the Facebook marketplace is the control you have over it. You set the price point, how you want to exchange the item whether it be locally in person or shipped across the United States, and how you want to exchange funds whether that be cash or electronically via a payment app like PayPal or cash App. There is no commission split with Facebook, you keep the full amount of the sale made.

*TIP* I normally elect for local pick up only in a public place, so people don't have my address and cash only with all the new policies around payment apps. Make sure you note this clearly in your post descriptions if you use this tip.

Facebook resale groups

Similar to the marketplace, is private and local resale Facebook groups. You have all of the same control over the price and exchange of items that you do in the marketplace. The difference here is, the groups you're apart of and selling on may have their own stipulations. Such as, if you comment your email address on a post that you are claiming the item, or that the item must be exchanged within so many days of purchasing. Be careful to read the groups rules closely to ensure you are following them. Otherwise, you risk being banned from selling items within certain groups.

*TIP* When posting on Facebook, it will give you the option to post in BOTH the marketplace and all the resale groups you're apart of simultaneously to save you the hassle of making multiple posts.

Poshmark

Poshmark is the last option I use, and normally just for clothing. Poshmark is great to get a larger audience but there are a few downsides. There is a commission split with Poshmark and shipping cost for buyers of your items. They also have their own policies, similarly to Facebook resale groups, that you will want to be aware of and follow, like shipping your items within a certain timeline.
